Description

I'm really irked by how i positioned the body here which eats his broken horn right up~
But when I noticed it was already too late to change it :c Anyway. I hope you like this guy anyway.

Edit: Because I got lotsa feedback about this. Haha. Actually I consider this a very flawed piece. I just liked the horns a lot. That's why I wanted to share it although all the other parts of the drawing made me question whether to upload it at all. I even dislike the horns to a certain degree because I could've avoided the major flaw in this piece (the damned tangent of the broken horn and the line of his back) by simply switching the sides of them. If I had drawn his left horn as the broken one it would've had lotsa negative space around it to make it pop. If the right horn would've been intact it would have protruded from the back, completely erasing every hint of tangent. Even lowering the arch of his back by a few notches would've gotten rid of that damned tangent. Same for the eyes. One of his eyes is scarred shut and blind. And I positioned that on his left side. Which makes it look as though I fudged up the perspective by hiding the eye behind the ridge of his nose, which would not happen in that angle. I should have put the scarred eye on his right where the scarred-ness and it being shut would have been apparent and the open eye on the left where it would have been visible across the back of his nose just fine.
Also the situation about his hand seems to be extremely unclear at first glance. So even though I poured a lot of time in the pose of that hand I apparently made it look weird by simply not shading it right.
So yeah. Lots of flaws in this drawing that make it look even MORE flawed, having crooked anatomy and proportions, at a glance although I drew those bits correctly afaik.
Not everything I draw turns out to be exactly what I want although my gallery might make you believe it does. That's just because I preselect what to upload on a basis of how much I myself do like it.
This is especially important to understand for younger artists or people fresher to the trade: Even the artist you look up to most produces a shitton of drawings that they dislike, hate or simply deem unworthy of further attention. Do not compare your art to the online presence of an artist. Not to their main gallery, not to their scraps even. We're only letting you see what we want you to see, whilst we hide stacks and stacks of failed doodles in a drawer or put them directly into the bin without further thought.
So yeah. It's ok to feel bad about your art every now and then. So does every artist. You have your standards and you sometimes fail to reach them and that's what makes you feel bad. Just put that drawing aside and soldier on. Not everything you draw will be a work of the heavens no matter how skilled you are. Do not take the rate at which you produce stuff you don't like as an indicator of your skill c:
